Great time at Refugio Amazonas

Just got back from Refugio Amazonas and it was awesome! We did the night walk and saw so many cool critters. The guides were super knowledgeable and made it really fun. Food was good too, especially the fresh fruit. Everything felt really relaxed and well-organized. Definitely a memorable trip.

Another solid jungle trip

This was my third time with Rainforest Expeditions, and they keep delivering. We stayed at Posada Amazonas this time, and it was just as good as Refugio Amazonas on my last visit. The birdwatching tour was fantastic, as usual, and the boat transfers were smooth. They're consistently reliable, which is why I keep coming back for these jungle trips. No surprises, just good service.

Easy booking, nice stay

Booked the Amazon Villa. Process was simple. Stay was peaceful. Saw monkeys. Guides were good. No issues with anything. Definitely a good option for a jungle getaway.

Good value for Tambopata

I booked a family rainforest tour during a seasonal promotion and felt like we got a pretty good deal. The all-inclusive eco-lodge stay at Posada Amazonas covered everything, so no hidden costs. Compared to other places I looked at, this felt like the best bang for our buck for what was included. It was a bit of a splurge, but worth it for the experience and the savings I found.

Detailed review of Tambopata Research Center stay

My recent trip to the Tambopata Research Center was quite an experience. Booking online was straightforward, and I received timely confirmation emails. The boat transfer from Puerto Maldonado was long but well-managed. Once at the lodge, the facilities were basic but clean, as expected for a remote location. I participated in several macaw clay lick tours and a jungle trek; the guides were very informative about the wildlife. Food was served buffet style and was generally good, though sometimes a bit repetitive. My only minor issue was the lack of reliable internet, but that's part of being so deep in the rainforest. Overall, a solid choice for serious wildlife enthusiasts.

Anyone know if I can still pay with PayPal or something like that? Or is it just credit card?

H Hannah Scott 6 days ago
I paid with a regular credit card, I didn't see an option for PayPal when I booked last year. Might be worth asking directly though.

Pretty sure it's just card. Haven't seen PayPal for bigger travel bookings like this, especially international ones.

Is Rainforest Expeditions actually legit? Like, I see some really cool stuff but worried about it being some kind of scam given how amazing it sounds.

D Donna M. 2 weeks ago
Totally legit. Been around forever, highly respected. Look up their awards and stuff. They're definitely the real deal for Amazon trips.

My friend went last year and had an incredible time, said it was everything they promised and more. Don't worry about it being fake.

How do these guys compare to Inkaterra? I'm trying to decide between the two for a trip next year and can't make up my mind.

D Donna G. 1 week ago
Rainforest Expeditions feels a bit more focused on the deep wildlife and research experience, especially with the Tambopata Research Center. Inkaterra is great too, but maybe a bit more polished/luxury sometimes.

I went with Rainforest Expeditions because their focus on citizen science and the community appealed to me more. Both are good, but RE felt more 'authentic' jungle experience if that makes sense.

Hey, what's the deal with returns if I need to cancel? Life's kinda unpredictable right now.

D David F. 5 days ago
They have a pretty clear cancellation policy. You get a full refund if you cancel far enough out, but it gets trickier closer to the date. You should definitely check their site for the exact timeframes.

Yeah, I had to reschedule once and it was fine. As long as you give them enough notice, you're usually good. They're pretty understanding.

Thinking of booking for next summer, is it worth doing the early bird thing or do they usually have better last minute deals?

L Linda Phillips 3 weeks ago
From what I've seen, early bird is usually the way to go. They definitely have them and it's a solid 10-20% off usually.

D Daniel Taylor 2 weeks ago
Yeah, I tried waiting once for a last-minute deal but it didn't really pan out. They do have some sometimes but they seem more for specific dates or off-peak, not reliable for prime travel times like summer.
